Air Driven Internal Corner Biological Filter
The XY-2010 filter is perfect for smaller aquariums housing small fish such as dwarf cichlid, guppy, killifish, shrimp, and more. It is ideal for hatcheries, maternity, nano, and fry tanks as the filter produces minimal current and has no chance of sucking the fish through.
The air infusion chamber creates tiny bubbles which enhance the solubility of oxygen. Please note that a suitable air pump is required to run this filter (not included). If needed, you can purchase an air pump separately from our website.
Install an airline into the unit to provide both aeration and physical and biochemical filtration for your fish. These filters are convenient for breeding small fish. The multi-layers are easy to operate and clean.
How Does It Work?
This filtration system utilizes air bubbles from an external or integral air pump to draw water through the filter. As water is drawn out through the lift tube or pump, it is replaced by fresh water entering the filter.
The white filter pad on the top layer of the system provides mechanical filtration, while the second layer consists of a black bio-sponge and ceramic rings with gravel that provide biochemical filtration. These elements support the colonization of beneficial bacteria that help break down harmful waste, such as ammonia and nitrite.
To maintain the system, it's necessary to rinse the sponge every time it becomes dirty, which typically occurs once every 2 to 4 weeks. To preserve the beneficial bacteria, it's recommended to rinse the sponge gently with water from the fish tank rather than tap water.
For detailed size information, please refer to image 3. The filter body measures approximately 155mm x 75mm x 95mm, and with the outlet nozzle attached, the total height is approximately 280mm.
