Aquarium Suction Cups with Ring Holder UK: 45mm Clear Suckers for Heaters, Probes and Tubing, 2 Pack
The heater has slipped down the back glass again, the temperature probe is floating loose in the sump, and the dosing lines are drifting wherever the flow takes them.
Loose equipment is more than untidy. A heater lying on the sand can scorch it or crack, a probe in the wrong spot gives you the wrong reading, and a dosing line that drifts can end up dosing straight into a pump intake.
These clear suction cups come as a pack of two. Each has a 45mm sucker and a 17.9mm ring that holds a heater, probe, tube or cable in place against the glass. A swallow tail release tab lets you lift the cup off cleanly when you need to move it, without prising at the edge.
Picture the inside of your tank and sump with every heater upright, every probe where it should be and every line running neatly along the glass.
I have been culturing live marine food in Wales since 2008, with 18+ years in marine aquaculture, and I am happy to advise on setting up equipment in a tank, sump or culture vessel.
Put everything where it belongs and keep it there.
Ring Holder Suction Cups: What They Are
You get two clear, soft suction cups, each 45mm across, with a ring on the back that has an inside diameter of 17.9mm. Anything up to about 18mm across slides through the ring and is held against the glass. The swallow tail tab on the edge of the cup is there to break the seal when you want to reposition it. Pull the tab and the cup lets go, so you are not working a fingernail under the rim or putting strain on the glass.
What You Can Hold With Them
The ring suits most of the round, slim equipment that ends up inside a tank or sump. Aquarium heaters, temperature probes for controllers, pH and other monitor probes, dosing and auto top-up lines, larger airline and flexible hose, and cable runs from pumps and lights. In culture vessels they are useful for holding a rigid air tube upright or keeping a heater off the bottom. Use both cups along a long item, such as a heater, so it sits straight and does not swing.
Getting a Good Grip
Suction cups hold best on clean, smooth glass or acrylic. Wipe the spot first to remove any algae or film, press the centre of the cup firmly against the glass to push out the air, and check it holds before you hang anything heavy from it. Wetting the cup can help it seal. Suction cups stiffen and lose some grip over time, so it is worth checking them when you clean the glass and replacing any that have started to slip.
Ring Holders and Our Other Clips
These are for holding round equipment through the ring. If you want to fix something flat to the glass, such as a decoration, a plant or a small hide, our Clear Plastic Aquarium Suction Cup Clamps clamp onto the item. For culture vessels and hatcheries, pair them with our air stones, check valves and air valves to keep the whole air line tidy.
Suction Cups FAQ
How many are in a pack?
Two suction cups.
What size items will the ring hold?
The ring has an inside diameter of 17.9mm, so it suits anything up to about 18mm across, such as most aquarium heaters, probes and larger tubing.
How big is the cup?
The suction cup is 45mm across.
How do I remove one?
Pull the swallow tail tab on the edge of the cup. That breaks the seal so the cup comes away cleanly.
Can I use them in a marine tank?
Yes. They are for use in marine and freshwater aquariums, sumps and culture vessels.
Will they hold on acrylic?
Yes, as long as the surface is clean and smooth.
